"They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but I like you more when you're here." what the fook?
Date: Thursday, September 24, 2009Posted at: 1:39 PM Im feeling so so bored. Decided to update my blog for abit. Its too dead & boring. *yawns* My astro guidebook for oct arrived, i read & saw an article on punishments of the ancient times. Criminals are so lucky these punishments are not practiced anymore! Its really gruesome and inhumane & there's a show about it. Ughhhh. Im really grossed out. Abacination The person is blinded with a red hot metal plate held before their eyes. Boiling A large cauldron is filled with water, oil, tar, animal fat or even molten lead and the person is plunged into the boiling contents, head first. Sometimes the person is immersed first before the liquid is heated. Boiling to death was widely used in Europe and Asia. Denailing As the name suggests, this consists of the removal of toe nails or finger nails, usually done using pliers. Flaying In this ancient practice of removing skin, the person's arms are tied to a pole above his head while his feet are tied below. A small knife is used to peel off the person's skin slowly, starting with the facial skin all the way to the feet. Most victims die before their waist is reached. Impalement The person is pierced with a long stake through the sides, the rectum or through the mouth. Death is slow and painful. The stake planted in the ground, leaving the impaled person suspended to die. (this resembles the hukuman sula in our komsas book, no?) Sawing The person is hung upside down and then sawed apart down the middle, between the legs. The person would remain conscious until the saw severs major blood vessels. In Asian countries, the person is made to stand up while the sawing starts in the head. Dismemberment The person's limbs are tied to movable objects, like a vehicle, which are then moved in opposite directions. This could be done by chaining four horses to the person's arms and legs, and making them pull him apart. Slow Slicing This ancient Chinese torture involves first blinding a person with a sharp knife, then executing minor cuts- the eras, nose, tongue, fingers, toes, etc., would be cut off. Then flesh from sizable parts, like the thighs and shoulders would be cut. The entire process is said to last three days, totalling 3600 cuts. The deceased would then be paraded in public. Scaphism The person is fastened within a hollowed-out contraption, like a tree trunk, with the head, hands & feet protuding. he is forced to ingest milk & honey until he develops severe diarrhoea. Honey is rubbed on his body to attract bees & insects. He is then left to float on a stagnant pond or exposed to the sun. The force-feeding is repeated daily until the person becomes gangrend. I personally think that the worst punishment is sawing. Thank god there are human rights now. Which one do you think that is the worst punishment? |
